Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips (optional)
- Whipped cream or frosting (for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the mug: Use two microwave-safe mugs (or one large mug if you prefer).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. If you’re using mini chocolate chips, fold them in now.
- Cook the cake: Microwave the mug(s) on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds (time may vary depending on your microwave). The cake should rise and be set in the center but still slightly moist.
- Serve and enjoy: Let the cake cool for a minute or two. Top with whipped cream or frosting, and maybe a sprinkle of extra chocolate chips or sprinkles for a festive touch!
Notes
- You can easily double this recipe to make two separate cakes in different mugs.
- Make sure to not overcook the cake, as it can dry out quickly. Start with 1 minute and 30 seconds, then check the consistency.
- For extra sweetness, drizzle with chocolate sauce or sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
