Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite flavor)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, gently press down in the center of each ball to create a small indentation.
- Spoon about 1/2 tsp of your favorite fruit jam into each indentation.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Once the cookies are completely cool, dust with powdered sugar for a little extra sweetness.
Notes
- You can use any jam flavor you like—raspberry, strawberry, apricot, or even orange marmalade!
- If you don’t have a thumbprint, use the back of a teaspoon or a small melon baller to make the indents for the jam.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
