- 1/2 cup caramel bits
- Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and caramel bits.
- Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, about 1 tablespoon per cookie.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Be sure not to overbake the cookies, as they will continue to cook slightly on the baking sheet once removed from the oven.
- You can substitute caramel chips for caramel chunks if preferred.
- For a more intense salted flavor, sprinkle a little extra flaky sea salt on top right before baking.
