Description

These Salted Caramel Chocolate Cookies are the ultimate sweet and salty treat! The rich, chocolatey cookie dough is filled with gooey caramel bits and melty semi-sweet chocolate chips, then topped with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for that perfect balance of flavors. A deliciously indulgent cookie for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel bits
  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and caramel bits.
  • Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, about 1 tablespoon per cookie.
  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Be sure not to overbake the cookies, as they will continue to cook slightly on the baking sheet once removed from the oven.
  • You can substitute caramel chips for caramel chunks if preferred.
  • For a more intense salted flavor, sprinkle a little extra flaky sea salt on top right before baking.
