  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup sake
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger.
  • Marinate salmon fillets in the mixture for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a pan over medium heat and sear the salmon fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Pour the marinade over the salmon and let it simmer until thickened.
  • Serve the salmon over steamed rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For an extra boost of flavor, you can also brush some of the marinade on the salmon while it sears.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar in the marinade based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • If you don’t have sake, you can substitute it with dry white wine or additional mirin.
