Instructions
- Prepare the fries:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Toss the cut potato fries in olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper until well-coated.
- Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Make the cheese sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually add milk while continuing to whisk until the mixture thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the Nacho Fries:
- Once the fries are baked and crispy, drizzle the cheese sauce over the fries.
- Add any optional toppings like jalapeños, sour cream, salsa, or cilantro.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately while the fries are hot and crispy. Enjoy
Notes
- For extra spice, sprinkle red pepper flakes or hot sauce on top of the nacho fries.
- You can use pre-cut frozen fries to save time, but fresh homemade fries give the best flavor and texture.
- If you prefer a spicier cheese sauce, you can add a little bit of hot sauce or jalapeño juice.
