Description

These Southern-style salmon croquettes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, bursting with flavor from a combination of fresh vegetables and seasonings. The perfect balance of savory and tangy, these croquettes are fried to golden perfection. Serve them as a main dish or appetizer with your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup Flour
  • ¼ cup Yellow Cornmeal
  • 15 ounces Canned Salmon (drained and flaked)
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup Sweet Onion (diced)
  • 1 large Egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup Cilantro (chopped)
  • Olive oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Add the canned salmon, red bell pepper, onion, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, mayonnaise, and cilantro. Stir everything together until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry the patties in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once cooked, remove the patties and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot with a side of tartar sauce, hot sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • If you prefer a lighter option, you can bake the croquettes at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding more Worcestershire sauce or cilantro if desired.
  • You can substitute the canned salmon with fresh salmon if preferred.
