  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Fit one pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
  • In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  • Spoon apple mixture into the pie crust.
  • Place second pie crust over the filling. Trim, seal, and flute the edges.
  • Cut slits in the top crust.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  • Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a tablespoon of butter on top of the apple filling before placing the top crust.
