This indulgent marble cake is a perfect combination of rich cocoa and creamy ricotta, with semi-sweet chocolate chips adding extra decadence. The result is a moist, flavorful cake that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in ricotta cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • For a marble effect, you can reserve a portion of the batter and mix it with melted chocolate before swirling it into the rest of the batter in the pan.
  • This cake can be frosted with whipped cream, chocolate ganache, or even a dusting of powdered sugar for added flair.
