- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in ricotta cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For a marble effect, you can reserve a portion of the batter and mix it with melted chocolate before swirling it into the rest of the batter in the pan.
- This cake can be frosted with whipped cream, chocolate ganache, or even a dusting of powdered sugar for added flair.
