- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 cup Hot Water (for mixing with cocoa)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch round or bundt cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, combine cocoa powder and hot water to form a smooth chocolate mixture.
- Take half of the batter and stir in the cocoa mixture until fully combined.
- Spoon both vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared pan, then use a knife to swirl the two batters together to create a marbled effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a bit of sour cream or yogurt to the batter to make it extra moist.
- You can dust the top with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate ganache for an added touch!
