These festive Christmas Cookie Bars are packed with delicious chocolate chips and a hint of sweetness from both white and brown sugar. The soft, chewy texture combined with optional crunchy nuts makes these bars a perfect treat for the holiday season. Easy to make and perfect for sharing at Christmas parties or gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually mix into the creamed mixture until fully incorporated.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
  • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

  • For a holiday twist, consider adding some festive sprinkles on top before baking.
  • If you prefer a softer bar, reduce the baking time by a few minutes.
  • You can substitute the nuts with other mix-ins like dried cranberries or mini marshmallows for variety.
