  • Author: Ellie
  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These Chocolate Custard Brioche Donuts are a deliciously indulgent treat! Soft and pillowy brioche dough is stuffed with rich, creamy chocolate custard and fried to golden perfection. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or any time you’re craving something sweet and decadent!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate custard
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the sugar, flour, and salt. Add in the yeast mixture, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours.
  • Once risen, roll out the dough and cut into rounds. Place a spoonful of chocolate custard in the center of each round. Fold the dough over and seal the edges.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F (180°C). Fry the donuts until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature is correct (350°F) to avoid greasy donuts. You can test the oil with a small piece of dough before frying the full batch.
  • If you don’t have chocolate custard on hand, you can make a simple chocolate pastry cream or use a store-bought chocolate pudding.
  • Donuts are best served fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
