Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups chocolate cereal (like Cocoa Pebbles or Cocoa Krispies)
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Red or pink sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  • Melt the Butter and Marshmallows:
    • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
    • Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.
  • Add the Chocolate Chips and Cereal:
    • Stir in the chocolate chips and continue to stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
    • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using.
    • Add the chocolate cereal to the mixture, stirring gently to coat all the pieces with the chocolate-marshmallow mixture.
  • Shape the Hearts:
    • While the mixture is still warm, press it into heart-shaped cookie cutters placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Alternatively, you can press the mixture into a greased baking dish and cut hearts out later.
    • If desired, top with red or pink sprinkles for extra decoration.
  • Let Cool:
    • Allow the heart-shaped treats to cool and harden at room temperature for about 30 minutes. You can also place them in the fridge to speed up the cooling process.
  • Serve:
    • Once hardened, carefully remove the hearts from the cookie cutters or cut them out from the baking dish. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a more festive look, drizzle melted white chocolate over the cooled hearts before serving.
  • You can substitute the chocolate cereal for any cereal you like or mix in a variety of cereals for different textures and flavors.
  • These treats can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
