Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups chocolate cereal (like Cocoa Pebbles or Cocoa Krispies)
- 3 cups mini marshmallows
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Red or pink sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Melt the Butter and Marshmallows:
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.
- Add the Chocolate Chips and Cereal:
- Stir in the chocolate chips and continue to stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract if using.
- Add the chocolate cereal to the mixture, stirring gently to coat all the pieces with the chocolate-marshmallow mixture.
- Shape the Hearts:
- While the mixture is still warm, press it into heart-shaped cookie cutters placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Alternatively, you can press the mixture into a greased baking dish and cut hearts out later.
- If desired, top with red or pink sprinkles for extra decoration.
- Let Cool:
- Allow the heart-shaped treats to cool and harden at room temperature for about 30 minutes. You can also place them in the fridge to speed up the cooling process.
- Serve:
- Once hardened, carefully remove the hearts from the cookie cutters or cut them out from the baking dish. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- For a more festive look, drizzle melted white chocolate over the cooled hearts before serving.
- You can substitute the chocolate cereal for any cereal you like or mix in a variety of cereals for different textures and flavors.
- These treats can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
