Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla.
  • Beat in boiling water. Batter will be thin. Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake tests done with a toothpick. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
