Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large chicken breasts, butterflied
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ¾ cup flour
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1½ cups breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- ½ cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- ½ cup marinara sauce
- 18 frozen mozzarella sticks
- 6 slider buns
- ¼ cup melted butter for topping
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken:
Butterfly the chicken breasts to create thinner pieces. Place the chicken in a shallow dish and cover with buttermilk. Let it soak for 30 minutes to an hour. - Prepare the Breading:
In a shallow dish, combine flour, seasoned salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs. In another shallow dish, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and parsley. - Bread the Chicken:
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and dredge each piece first in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten eggs, and coat in the breadcrumb mixture. Set aside on a plate. - Cook the Chicken:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. - Prepare the Sliders:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the slider buns on a baking sheet. On the bottom half of each bun, layer a piece of cooked chicken, a slice of provolone cheese, a spoonful of marinara sauce, and a mozzarella stick. Place the top bun on each slider. - Bake the Sliders:
Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the buns are golden brown. - Serve:
Serve the sliders hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
- You can use chicken tenders or thighs for a different texture, but breasts are ideal for sliders.
- If you want extra crispy sliders, toast the slider buns lightly before assembling the sandwiches.
- You can use homemade marinara sauce or store-bought for convenience.
