Description
This unique twist on the classic grilled cheese combines sweet caramelized onions and ripe pears with sharp cheddar cheese, all sandwiched between golden, buttery bread. A perfect savory and sweet combination!

- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 pear, thinly sliced
- 4 slices of bread
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Place sliced pear in the skillet and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Remove onions and pears from skillet and set aside.
- Place 2 slices of bread in the skillet and top each with 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add a layer of caramelized onions and pears on top of the cheese.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread.
- Cook the sandwich until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Use sourdough or a hearty multigrain bread for added texture and flavor.
- You can substitute the cheddar with Gruyère for a more sophisticated taste.
