Description
Brochettes de Poulet au Paprika et Moutarde (Paprika and Mustard Chicken Skewers)
Description: Paprika and Mustard Chicken Skewers are tender, juicy pieces of chicken marinated in a tangy mustard, smoked paprika, and garlic marinade, then grilled to perfection. These skewers are a flavorful and satisfying dish, ideal for outdoor cooking or a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- Chicken Breast: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Olive Oil: 3 tbsp
- Dijon Mustard: 2 tbsp
- Paprika: 2 tsp (smoked paprika is ideal for a deeper flavor)
- Garlic Cloves: 2, minced
- Lemon Juice: 2 tbsp
- Honey: 1 tbsp (optional for a touch of sweetness)
- Salt and Pepper: To taste
- Fresh Herbs (optional): Chopped parsley or thyme for garnish
- Wooden Skewers: Soaked in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning, or metal skewers
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken:
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the olive oil, Dijon mustard, paprika, minced garlic, lemon juice, honey (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken cubes to the bowl and toss them well to coat with the marinade.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Prepare the Skewers:
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers or metal skewers, making sure the pieces are spaced evenly.
- Grill the Chicken Skewers:
- Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken is fully cooked and has reached an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Make sure the chicken is nicely browned and slightly charred on the edges.
- Optionally, you can baste the chicken with any remaining marinade during grilling for extra flavor.
- Serve:
- Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or thyme if desired.
- Serve the skewers with your favorite sides, such as grilled vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken breast with chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful option.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the marinade.
- If you prefer, the chicken can also be baked in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
