Description

Brochettes de Poulet au Paprika et Moutarde (Paprika and Mustard Chicken Skewers)
Description: Paprika and Mustard Chicken Skewers are tender, juicy pieces of chicken marinated in a tangy mustard, smoked paprika, and garlic marinade, then grilled to perfection. These skewers are a flavorful and satisfying dish, ideal for outdoor cooking or a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breast: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Olive Oil: 3 tbsp
  • Dijon Mustard: 2 tbsp
  • Paprika: 2 tsp (smoked paprika is ideal for a deeper flavor)
  • Garlic Cloves: 2, minced
  • Lemon Juice: 2 tbsp
  • Honey: 1 tbsp (optional for a touch of sweetness)
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste
  • Fresh Herbs (optional): Chopped parsley or thyme for garnish
  • Wooden Skewers: Soaked in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning, or metal skewers

Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken:
    • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the olive oil, Dijon mustard, paprika, minced garlic, lemon juice, honey (if using), salt, and pepper.
    • Add the chicken cubes to the bowl and toss them well to coat with the marinade.
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Prepare the Skewers:
    • Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
    • Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers or metal skewers, making sure the pieces are spaced evenly.
  • Grill the Chicken Skewers:
    • Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken is fully cooked and has reached an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Make sure the chicken is nicely browned and slightly charred on the edges.
    • Optionally, you can baste the chicken with any remaining marinade during grilling for extra flavor.
  • Serve:
    • Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
    • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or thyme if desired.
    • Serve the skewers with your favorite sides, such as grilled vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken breast with chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful option.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the marinade.
  • If you prefer, the chicken can also be baked in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes (plus marinating time)
  • Cook Time: 12-16 minutes
