These Braided Nutella Buns are a sweet and indulgent treat, combining soft, fluffy dough with the rich, creamy goodness of Nutella and the crunch of hazelnuts. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a snack, these buns are sure to impress with their beautiful braided appearance and delicious flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until warm (120-130°F).
  • Add the milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high for 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a 12-inch x 7-inch rectangle.
  • Spread Nutella over dough and sprinkle with hazelnuts.

Notes

  • Make sure the milk is warm but not too hot, as temperatures above 130°F can kill the yeast.
  • For a more golden finish, you can brush the buns with an egg wash (1 beaten egg + 1 tbsp water) before baking.
  • You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for a slower rise if desired.
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
